Shea butter

This butter, rich in unsaponifiable and vitamins E and F, has long been the only cosmetic for African women. In Gabon this butter comes from Moabi, a cousin of shea butter. Moabi, used in cosmetics for its softening and moisturizing properties, is a majestic tree that can reach 70m and is a protected species. You have to wait 50 years before the tree produces the maximum amount of fruits

The Karite is a sacred tree for native people.

Karité means “butter tree” in Wolof, and gave karité in French. It’s also called Si Yiri (pronounce “Shi Yiri”) in Bambara, where the English word comes from.
